The Heltec MeshPocket is Heltec’s entry into the standalone MeshCore device category, and it makes a strong first impression. It packs a small display, GPS module, built-in rechargeable battery, and a LoRa radio into a compact, pocketable form factor. Unlike the bare-board Heltec V3 and V4, the MeshPocket comes in a proper enclosure that is ready to carry right out of the box.

The MeshPocket works both as a standalone device — reading and responding to messages on its built-in screen — and as a Bluetooth companion to your phone when you want a more comfortable typing experience. The GPS provides automatic location tracking, which is a significant advantage over the cheaper Heltec boards. Battery life is respectable for the compact size, comfortably covering a day of moderate use.

This device hits a sweet spot for users who want more than a basic companion board but do not need the full keyboard experience of a T-Deck. It is particularly well-suited for cycling, day hikes, and urban mesh networking where you want GPS and a screen but also want something that disappears into a pocket. The Heltec brand’s wide availability in European shops and competitive pricing make it an accessible step up from the budget boards.
